BEST TIME TO TRAVEL AND VISIT WASHINGTON

Washington weather may be particularly hot and uncomfortable in the summer and particularly cold and disagreeable in the winter or early spring. It's a very changeable weather, with moderate precipitation all year long (snow is concentrated in the winter months).

Considering the weather issue alone, then the best time to visit Washington is undoubtedly mid and late spring - May, June – or late-summer and autumn. Autumn, in terms of weather, is perhaps the best period.

But there are, of course, other issues when considering a visit to Washington.

If hotels prices are an important feature and you want to bet on accommodation deals, then the summer months (during the vacations of Congress) are the best period (you can tour the museums, or monuments, or political buildings and shop without big crowds).

WHEN NOT TO GO AND VISIT WASHINGTON

For many people Washington's summer should be avoided. Humidity and high temperatures may turn July and August into very uncomfortable months. For other people, winter is also a period to avoid, due to the possibility of snow or bitterly cold weather.

Spring has also a negative side: it's a season with large crowds and accommodation – namely in the Cherry Blossom period - tends to be more expensive than in another seasons.
