Indianapolis is the main attraction in Indiana. But you may also consider places like Bloomington (50 miles southwest of Indianopolis: Bloomington is a lively college, with an intense nightlife and cultural scene), or the northern lakeshore (bordering south Michigan's Lake), or several small cities such as Columbus and Nashville in central Indiana.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO INDIANA
Fall is often considered the best time to visit Indiana, due to low humidity and the regular sunny days and agreeable temperatures.
Summer is, however, the most popular season to travel to Indiana. If you want to witness the animation in the lakeshore region or in Indianapolis, then Summer is the right season to you.
May is also a very popular month due to the Indianapolis 500 event.
Indiana winters are often very cold, though there are also some relatively mild winters (due to occasional air currents coming from the south).
Spring is a very unstable season, with frequent thunderstorms.

WHEN NOT TO GO TO INDIANA
You may want to avoid the winter months, when temperatures attain very low levels and snowstorms may strike the region.
July and August are a risk if you take into account the humidity and the high temperatures (accommodation rates can also double in this period).
If you want low accommodation rates, then mid and late May isn't a good period in the Indianapolis region either (due to the Indianapolis 500 and crowds of car racing fans).
