WHAT TO VISIT IN MONTEREY PENINSULA, CALIFORNIA
Monterey city, Pacific Grove and Carmel, in the south, are the top references in the Monterey Peninsula.
Monterey city offers great examples of old Mexican and Spanish buildings and architecture. Its Path of History connects 37 sites of the Monterey Historic Park.
Pacific Grove presents the visitor with some excellent beaches, cottages and - in the period between November and March - millions of Monarch butterflies, seeking winter refuge in the region.
Carmel, in the south side of Monterey Peninsula, presents an amazing landscape, several museums, many art galleries and some top beaches.

BEST TIME TO VISIT MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA
Summer is the high season in Monterey, with throngs everywhere. November through April is the off-season period.
Accommodation prices follow the arriving of crowds: they are much higher in the summer period.
Mid seasons (or even Winter) are good periods to visit Monterey if you don't intend to practice any outdoor sport. See Monterey Weather Map, for details on rain, humidity and temperatures (temperatures in Monterey are relatively constant year round, without big extremes, but there is a persistent cool breeze and many foggy days; due to the influence of the sea, temperatures in inland places as Salinas or Carmel Valley can be 15 or 20º Fwarmer (in summer) or cooler (in winter) than those in Carmel and Monterey).
WHEN NOT TO GO TO THE WINE COUNTRY
To avoid the crowds don't choose the Summer months, or the weekends and holidays. November through April is the off-season period.
