Best Time to Visit Sitka
Sitka is a top Alaskian travel destination: for fishing, eco-traveling, wildlife and whale watching, sea kayaking, cruises… Sitka's coastal sceneries are legendary.
Besides, Sitka is a very historic town, with plenty of interesting traces of Russian presence.

Wet days are numerous in Sitka: around 227 per year.
Summer temperatures are colder than inland and northward ones, but in the other months and in average they are more agreeable.
All in all, the weather is not very different from that of the rest of Alaska: harsh winters, and relatively agreeable summers (mid May to mid September).

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL & VISIT SITKA
Summer period is the best one to travel to Sitka. June, July and August are the most popular months (with high hotel prices reflecting it).
Winter – mid September to mid May – is a bad period to visit Sitka, namely for fishing (rivers are frozen) and outdoor activities.
