BEST TIME TO VISIT MARYLAND

Maryland's Summer oscilates between mild and hot. There are hot and humid days during summer, but most of the days are mild. July is the warmest month, with average temperatures around 85-90s. Rain peaks are attained in July and August, a period when thunderstorms are very common.

Summer is - as expected - the most popular period in southern resorts. Ocean city is particularly busy and crowded in the summer...

During winter the weather tends to be moderate in the east and south regions of Maryland, and very cold and disagreeable in the western mountains. January is the coldest month, with average temperature around 20-25s.

Mid and late Spring have mild weather, as well as Fall. There are around 130 mild days in Garrett County (north-west Maryland) and around 230 mild days in southern and the lower Eastern Shore. These are the best times for visiting Maryland, if you just want to equate the weather issue.

Snow is rare on the lower Eastern Shore but very common in the northwest regions of Maryland, close to the Pennsylvania border (Garret County): the Deep Greek Lake region is very popular among winter sports enthusiasts.

WHEN NOT TO GO TO MARYLAND

To avoid crowds and high hotel rates, avoid the Ocean City region in July and August. Avoid also weekends in the Chesapeake Bay sites during Spring through Fall period. And do not go to Maryland seashore resorts and outdoor places in the Spring break, when students thronged many Maryland travel destinations.

To avoid the risk of disagreeable weather conditions, avoid the sometimes hot and humid July-August period and the December-February cold period.
